Jobs by ASVAB score, branch by branch
Updated Nov 6, 2026 · facts checked Nov 6, 2026
A job needs more than the enlistment floor: each one sets its own line-score minimums. Below are the numbers the branches publish themselves, one table per branch, and a plain note where a branch does not publish them.
How to read these tables
Every branch first checks the AFQT against its own floor; the floors are listed on scores by branch. Then each job checks one or more line scores, which are explained on line scores. An Air Force job marked "G55 and M55" needs at least 55 on the General composite and 55 on Mechanical. Navy figures are sums of standard scores, so they run into the hundreds.
Minimums can change, and a job may add a physical, a security clearance or an age limit. Treat a table row as a starting point for the conversation with a recruiter.

Army jobs by line score
The Army publishes which subtests make up each of its nine line scores and gives an example job for each one (the table is on line scores), but goarmy.com job pages do not print a minimum score. A typical pairing is Clerical for Human Resources Specialist, Combat for Infantryman, Skilled Technical for Ammunition Specialist and Mechanical Maintenance for artillery systems mechanics.
For the current Army number for a specific MOS, combat medic and military police included, ask a recruiter: the figures on third-party lists are not ones this site can source. The Army enlistment floor is 31.
Marine Corps and Coast Guard
Marine Corps: the AFQT floor is 31, and some specialties need more. marines.com does not list the line-score minimum for each specialty.
Coast Guard: the AFQT floor is 32, and gocoastguard.com does not publish rating minimums either. Coast Guard Recruiting Command can authorize case-by-case waivers of certain entrance standards, but no AFQT waiver number is published; ask your recruiter whether any apply.
For both, the recruiter has the current table.
Raising the score that blocks a job
Find the composite the job uses, then the subtests in it. A job on M or MM draws on Mechanical Comprehension and Auto and Shop, among others; E leans on Electronics Information and General Science; G and GT lean on the verbal subtests and Arithmetic Reasoning. A study plan built that way is on the ASVAB study guide.

Job score questions
What ASVAB score do you need for a Navy SEAL?
navy.com lists four alternatives, for example GS + MC + EI of 167, each together with AR + MK of 100. All four options are in the Navy table above.
Does the Army publish minimum scores for each MOS?
Not on goarmy.com. It publishes which subtests make up each line score and an example job for each; the minimum for a given job comes from a recruiter.
Why are Air Force minimums written like "G55"?
The letter is the MAGE composite and the number is the minimum percentile on it. Some jobs need two composites at once.
